Born and raised right here in Key West, Caffeine Carl Wagoner is a proud Conch. A World Class guitarist, Caffeine Carl is a local favorite, often referred to as The Pride of Key West. In fact, Wagoner was voted as 2015 Bubba Award winner for BEST MUSICIAN IN KEY WEST. A gentle giant, Carl plays directly from the heart. Carl credits local artists such as Bill Blue and Carl Peachey and legends such as Albert King, Eric Clapton, and Elmore James as a few of his guitar heroes.
A regular fixture at The Smokin' Tuna, Caffeine Carl and The Buzz amaze crowds of jaw dropped onlookers. Both locals and tourists alike gawk at his skillful guitar work and his ability to entertain. His heartfelt sets include originals such as 'Mama Don’t Like It' and 'My Little Island Home' to Blues standards such as 'Dust My Broom' and 'Every Day I Have The Blues'.
Wagoner has toured in the past as a member of The Nick Norman Band. However, He prefers to stay in Key West and play. People from all over the world come to visit Key West on a regular basis. Many of them include Caffeine Carl on their must see itinerary for their visits.
You can typically find Caffeine Carl performing on Monday and Thursday nights at Smokin' Tuna with his Blues band Caffeine Carl and The Buzz and on Friday and Saturday nights at Smokin' Tuna with other special local favorite musicians such as Claire Finley, Zack Seemiller, George Chapman, and Andy Westcott. On Wednesday nights, Carl joins forces with Tony Baltimore and Lee Venters to form an exceptional trio amazing crowds at Lazy Gecko.
Outside of his regular gig schedule, Wagoner often performs for special events. He is often involved in fundraisers and local festivals and has even headlined the famous Songwriters Festival held each May here in Key West.
Wagoner’s humility is one of the traits that make him such a beloved Key West icon. He often shares the stage with many other local artists. He’s known to invite them on stage to play with him. Whether he and longtime friend singer/songwriter Zack Seemiller are putting on one of their legendary shows or he invites a guest on the stage to join him, Carl always showers the other with praise. Wagoner can also be seen supporting many of the other talented musicians around town, often cheering them on while they perform. A true pillar of his home town, Carl is a local hero to many.
As much as Carl loves to play and perform, his greatest love is that which he holds for his wife Erin and his family. Perhaps most proud of being a loving husband and father, a true friend to an entire community, and a native Conch, Caffeine Carl Wagoner is a true icon and living legend of The Key West music scene.
